Biography of Roehana Koeddoes or Rohana Kudus

Biography, the word Changes-Roehana Koeddoes or Rohana Kudus (born in Koto Gadang, Agam, West Sumatera, December 20, 1884 – August 17, 1972 at the age of 87 years) is Indonesian. He was born from his father named Mohamad Rasjad Maharadja Soetan and mother named Kiam.

Roehana Koeddoes was the elder half-brother of Soetan Sjahrir, the first Prime Minister of Indonesian and mak also tuo (aunt) of the famous poet Chairil Anwar. He is also the cousin of h. Agus Salim. Roehana live at the same age with Kartini, where access to women to get a good education is very limited. She was the first female newspaper perdiri in Indonesian.

Roehana is a woman who has a strong commitment on education especially for women. In his Roehana is one of the handful of women who believe that discrimination against women, including the opportunity to get the education is action and must be countered. With intelligence, courage, sacrifice and the struggle against injustice Roehana to change the fate of the women.

Although Roehana can not got formal education but he diligently studied with his father, an employee of the Government of the Netherlands that always carries the Roehana reading materials from the Office. The desire and passion of high education make Roehana quickly mastered the material being taught.
